What makes a good bristle board
All bristle boards look broadly alike from across a room. The differences that matter are in the density of the sisal and the wire laid over it. Dense, tightly bound fibre closes up faster and wears flat more slowly. Thin, staple-free wire keeps darts in the board instead of on the carpet.
- Dense sisal, tightly banded — resists the flat spot that forms in the treble 20
- Staple-free bullseye — the single most common source of bounce-outs on cheap boards
- Thin or bladed wire — deflects darts into the bed rather than back out
- A printed number ring that rotates, so you can move the board round as it wears
